Sam Cunningham
Ultra & Endurance Runner
The journey

Sam came to me having already spent close to two decades living with a serious neurological injury — one that had devastated his feet, ankles and hips, and left him with a prognosis no runner ever wants to hear. Seventeen years of being told the trails were behind him.

He arrived at Elite Pain & Performance having already begun rebuilding through neurology work with Mark at 360 Rehab. The neurological foundation was being laid. What remained was the physical layer — structural, fascial, mechanical — the compensation patterns that had built up over years of restricted movement and needed to be unwound before Sam could move freely again.

Together we worked through remedial and sports massage, deep fascia work, and targeted mobility and strength work focused on his feet, ankles and hips. Alongside this, Sam committed to training in barefoot shoes — a choice that amplified everything we were doing in clinic. The results have been immeasurable.

In Sam's words

"I started treatment with 360 Rehab about 4 years ago after almost 17 years of being told I would never run again. Following the neurology side with Mark, I went on to work with and receive treatment with Meg that consisted of remedial and sports massage, fascia work, mobility and strength work on my feet, ankles and hips.

I've worn and used barefoot shoes and trainers for 6 or 7 years and this alongside the work with Meg has reaped immeasurable rewards in my ultra and endurance running goals. Without continued work with Meg, I'd not be running and achieving goals that I continue to pursue.

I couldn't recommend Meg enough with how she's changed my life."

Laura
Advanced IEMT Practitioner
The journey

Laura first came to the clinic a few years ago with multiple pain complaints. Her main issue was knee pain, alongside ongoing tension and discomfort in the jaw/TMJ area.

We initially focused on a rehabilitation programme for the knee. Once this improved, Laura moved onto a monthly maintenance plan, where the focus shifted to jaw tension linked to stress and previous trauma.

As her symptoms improved, her goals evolved. We now combine ongoing maintenance with a tailored exercise programme to support long-term movement and overall wellbeing.

In Laura's words

"I had been struggling with ongoing knee pain, as well as tension and discomfort in my jaw. The jaw pain would often flare up during periods of stress and had been something I'd dealt with for a long time.

I had tried other treatments before, but they mostly focused on the symptoms rather than the cause. What felt different here was the level of detail and the whole-body approach. Everything was linked back to how I move and function, which made much more sense. The combination of hands-on treatment and movement-based rehab was something I hadn't experienced before.

Since starting treatment, I've seen a clear improvement in both my pain levels and mobility. My knee no longer limits me in the same way, and the jaw tension is much more manageable.

I feel more aware of my body and better able to manage how stress affects me physically. Overall, I feel better in myself and more comfortable in day-to-day life."

Mike
Monthly Maintenance Client
The journey

Mike came to me with a history of ongoing lower back pain and sciatica spanning approximately three years, including two previous surgeries. With the bulk of his acute symptoms already behind him, his goal was clear - make sure it never came back.

Mike is a keen cyclist who works long hours and travels frequently. We built his maintenance programme around that reality. Alongside his monthly sessions, he now has a set of tailored protocols and exercises designed specifically for life on the road - so his body stays strong, mobile, and resilient wherever he is.

The focus has been threefold: keeping him pain and sciatica free, building strength and capacity on the bike, and creating a sustainable framework he can take anywhere.

In Mike's words

"So much has changed since I started my regular maintenance treatment. My overall fitness has improved tremendously and I'm now swimming, cycling and visiting the gym three times per week. The sciatica has gone and I feel so much stronger throughout my body.

The monthly programme offers me guidance on my overall fitness and also gives me reassurance on any minor aches and pains that crop up.

I had two previous lower back surgeries followed by general physiotherapy and chiropractic treatments. What was different here was a dedicated focused programme that looked at both the main areas of pain but also investigated other possible causes. That approach made all the difference."

Lyle
Injury Rehabilitation Client
The journey

Lyle came to me with a running injury that had been ongoing for eight to ten months. He had seen various physios before without lasting resolution.

Rather than focusing solely on the injury itself we conducted a full assessment - looking beyond the presenting complaint to understand the root cause. That meant taking into account not just his running, but his other sports including surfing, and the reality of his day to day life - spending eight hours a day at a desk before heading out to train. Every element of how Lyle moves, loads, and sits came into the picture.

As the injury resolved, the focus shifted. Lyle now follows daily and weekly stretching and strengthening routines built around his specific sports and lifestyle - protocols designed not just to prevent re-injury but to actively improve performance across everything he does.

In Lyle's words

"I had seen various physios before, but Meg's approach was completely different. Rather than just focusing on the injury itself, she looked beyond it to understand the root cause. She conducted a full assessment and took the time to discuss not just my running, but my other sports and my day-to-day work life. It genuinely felt like I was being taken seriously as a whole person, rather than just being treated for a specific symptom. She provided a holistic view that I've never experienced with any other treatment for pain or injury.

I am now back to running, but the biggest change has been incorporating daily and weekly stretching and strengthening routines. This not only ensures I don't re-injure myself, but it has also led to noticeable performance gains in my other sports, particularly surfing. I now look at my training completely differently to meet my performance goals - it has gone far beyond just rehabbing an injury."
